Back to school checklists
It’s that instance. My little guy will be starting preschool in September, and two mornings a week have gradually become a daily distress. While he is excited to go, we’ve never been apart, and making the separation easy for him is one of my top priorities.
Mommy Mall has put together a very comprehensive checklist for parents, to help construct the transition to school as smooth as possible for families with children entering preschool, primary school, middle school, and high school.
You’ll find tips for one month before school starts, one week before the transition, and the night before the big day, even the daylight of, with lists for each
Some tips that we’ll use for our preparations are:
- reading books about the first day of school
- buying some back-to-school supplies to get Owen excited
- laying out his clothes the night before (so he hopefully won’t wear a super hero costume his first day!)
Like most kids, helping Owen get used to the concept of separating, while making his school routine and environment as familiar to him as possible, should go a distant way in helping the first day of school be a happy and exciting event.
Now, can I do all that without crying? Me, that is….
