How to Spray Insulation into an Attic

Â

Some home centers offer the free use of an insulation sprayer or blower with the purchase of 20 or 25 bags of cellulose insulation. Installation is a two-person job (one upstairs, one down) and will take about 6-8 hours. Put the machine outside and run the tubing up the inside staircase or up a ladder on the outside and in through a window. Break up the insulation and

feed it into the container attached to the spraying tube. The machine will take it up fast, so break up several bags of insulation before beginning the job or have a third person help break it up. The person upstairs simply moves the distributing tube to throw the insulation into an even layer at the desired depth. Twenty bags of insulation should cost under $200.
