Open Question: Dishwasher Installation Question - It leaks!?

My house is undergoing complete renovations. My brother installed a dishwasher for us and things were fine. Than it leaked (we arent sure where in the cycle) what seemed alot of water on the floor. We wanted to see where it was leaking so we continued to run water through it, and had 3 successful washes, than it leaked again. I found it leaking from the front door at the bottom, so it isn’t sealing properly sometimes (not all the time). Of course we lost the instruction manual in the mess. Now I’ve never had a dishwasher BUT when

you open the door on each side there is a small black plastic thing (right where the door opens at the bottom) they are removable, I took them out to see if possibly they were only there for shipping and were suppose to be removed. I’ve done 3 loads and so far no leaks. Does anyone know if those little blacks things are suppose to be taken off right after you install it? I need to find out the problem and get it fixed before we lay the new floors!
